Abstract
Abstract :
@EN The present study was undertaken to compare hematological and serum biochemical values of the Beagle dogs immediately after arrival with those values of dogs one month after acclimation. The sex difference was also investigated. The platelet
counts
were significantly reduced when the dogs were acclimated for one month. In addition, many biochemical parameters. including aspartate aminotransferase, triglyceride, albumin, calcium, albumin-globulin ratio and blood urea nitrogen were
significantly
increased. Meanwhile, the amounts of inorganic phosphate and total cholesterol were significantly reduced, following the acclimation. A slight difference in certain parameters. including total cholesterol, was observed between male and female
animals
both in days upon arrival and acelimation for one month. Our present data were also compared with the results from other researchers. Taken together, the present results showed valuable informations on the hematology and serum chemistry of Beagle
dogs,
4~6 month of age, which are anticipated to be used in preclinical toxicity tests for chemicals and drugs.
